Moundsville fire chief terminated

Moundsville's acting fire chief has been terminated.

Ronald Walker was scheduled for a meeting Friday, but he didn’t show up for it.

Walker is accused of sexually abusing a co-worker.

He was arrested on Dec. 8, and is free on $10,000 bond.

The incident allegedly happened in November. According to a criminal complaint, walker exposed himself to a female co-worker. He’s accused of forcing the alleged victim to touch him in his private area.

The alleged incident happened in the parking lot of the city building, which is shared with the fire dept.

A civil service board decided to let Walker go following a recommendation by Moundsville City Manager Deanna Hess.

Walker has been chief for about a month, following the death of chief Noel Clarke. He's worked for the city of Moundsville for 18 years.

Meanwhile, Walker is also a Cameron city councilman, and they responded last week. The mayor said she was shocked.

There is no news on his council position.

Walker has a hearing next week in Marshall County Magistrate Court concerning the criminal case.

The new acting chief is Gary Brandon.
