Man who escaped from hospital back in police custody

Frank Delguzzi is now in police custody after escaping from Trinity Medical Center.

The hunt for a man who escaped police custody in Steubenville on Wednesday has come to an end in less than 48 hours.

Frank Delguzzi is now in police custody after escaping from Trinity Medical Center.

He was captured in Weirton after a traffic stop on Friday morning.

"Earlier this morning we received information on his possible location in residences in Steubenville, Wintersville, and then finally we could ascertain that he was at the Weirton marina, so we notified Weirton PD and they picked him up," Steubenville Police Chief Bill McCafferty said.

According to Weirton Police Chief Rob Alexander, Delguzzi was spotted in a vehicle owned by his parents on Freedom Way.

Officers converged on his location and arrested him.

Delguzzi was arrested on Monday for shoplifting. On Wednesday, while in jail, he complained of an ankle injury, and was taken to the hospital, where he then escaped.

Later that day, police say Delguzzi broke into a home and grabbed different clothing.

The Steubenville city prosecutor was not available Friday to officially press charges against Delguzzi.

In the meantime, he had outstanding warrants in West Virginia for failing to pay fines. He's being kept in the Northern Regional Jail.
