Local Elks Lodge helping Harvey victims
OHIO COUNTY, W.Va —
The Elks disaster relief program is helping those affected by the tropical storm Harvey in Texas---and you can get involved.
The national Elks president sent an immediate donation of $25,000 to help thousands of flood victims in Texas.
Now, local lodges, including Wheeling Elks Lodge 28, are trying to raise money to replenish that account at the national level so they would have money for the next natural disaster.
They are accepting any additional donations for those in Texas.
“We would collect any monies people want to go toward the hurricane efforts and would see that those are directed to the national disaster relief fund and from there it would be dispersed to the hurricane recovery efforts in Texas," Jeff Miller of the Wheeling Elks Lodge said.
If you wish to donate, there are Elks Lodges in Wheeling, Weirton, Wellsburg, Sistersville, Martins Ferry and Barnesville.
