Local church feeds hundreds on Christmas day
STEUBENVILLE, Ohio —
On Sunday, the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Steubenville hosted their annual Christmas dinner.
This is the sixth year the church has held the Christmas day memorial dinner. They estimate they served between 550 and 600 meals Sunday. Those who came got turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, green beans and desserts. The church uses the dinner to give the community a place to come and eat on Christmas, especially those mourning the loss of loved ones.
Spiro Alexander of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church said, "This church has been here many, many years, and we feel very fortunate, very blessed to be able to function, and the community helps support us also throughout the year. This is our way of giving back to the community that supports and loves us."
The church plans to hold its Christmas day memorial dinner again next year.
