Indian Creek High School Marching Band to raise funds for uniforms
JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ohio —
The Indian Creek High School Marching Band kicked off a campaign Tuesdays to raise funds for new uniforms.
The goal is to purchase 170 uniforms, enough for the 152 members and extra uniforms as the band expands.
The monetary goal? $120,000.
"I think it's important because like it's been a while since we've had new uniforms, since 2002,” said senior band member Tobias Cunningham. “They're getting kind of old."
They hope to achieve this within 12 months, so they're ready for next year's football season.
“Fifteen years ago, we had we had a small band of like 30 people, and they were all about the same size,” said Field Commander Alex Rawson. “Now, we have about 160 and they're all different sizes. The uniforms have been altered so many times that they're falling apart."
The band said the new uniforms will reflect the addition of a new school color; gray.
"Come help us with these uniforms, please, the children deserve it,” said Lee Lewis of the Indian Creek Band Boosters. “Indian Creek children deserve it for the band."
Contributions can be sent to the Indian Creek High School Band Boosters at P.O. Box 2036, Wintersville, OH 43953. Online donations can be made here.
