Festival of Lights begins at Oglebay
WHEELING, W.Va. —
An Ohio Valley holiday tradition continued Thursday evening with the flipping of the switch of Oglebay’s Festival of Lights.
WesBanco Bank President Todd Clossin had the honor of turning the lights on for the 2017-18 season, which was followed by fireworks.
The Festival of Lights began in 1985 and is now one of the nation’s largest holiday light shows, attracting more than a million visitors each year.
It covers more than 300 acres across a 6-mile drive throughout the park.
This year, there are some new displays, like a chameleon that’s lights change colors, and a large moving tree. They will continue wagon, train and pony rides. Santa will visit for pictures.
The Festival of Trees by Oglebay Institute starts Friday.
