Update: One in custody after Steubenville drug bust

One suspect -- Johnny Douglas IV -- is now in police custody. Douglas, who is not from the area, was arrested on a single felony charge of cocaine possession after authorities found 36 grams of cocaine.

A Steubenville drug bust resulted in drugs, including fentanyl, being removed from a home.

The bust took place at 519 Grandview Avenue on Thursday night. Law enforcement from Steubenville, Weirton, Brooke County and Jefferson County were on scene.

According to Sheriff Fred Abdalla, $10,000 in cash, marijuana, crack cocaine and fentanyl were all seized at the home.

“This stuff is a killer, and we're serious,” Abdalla said. “We're serious about trying to curb it and trying to get it off the streets. You know we can't do it all and get it all, but we're going to do our best."

One suspect -- Johnny Douglas IV -- is now in police custody. Douglas, who is not from the area, was arrested on a single felony charge of cocaine possession after authorities found 36 grams of cocaine.

He faces 3 to 11 years in jail on that charge alone. Prosecutor Steve Lamatrice said he has yet to file charges related to the other drugs found at the residence, including unverified amounts of heroin or fentanyl. Lamatrice argued in court for a hefty bond because of Douglas's lengthy criminal record.

"Quite frankly, it's 33 pages long,” Lamatrice said. “A lot of misdameanors in there, some violence, there's some felonies; one prison term."

"This is one of the thickest criminal histories I've ever seen,” Judge John Mascio said.

“Most of that is when I was a juvenile,” Douglas said. “I only had three charges on my adult record.

“That just tells me you're a career criminal," Mascio said.

Douglas's bond was set at $500,000. He's scheduled to be back in court on Dec. 15.
