Eagles fans, local businesses see big win for Super Bowl

While the Eagles won Sunday night’s Super Bowl game, local businesses had a win of their own.

While the Eagles won Sunday night’s Super Bowl game, local businesses had a win of their own.

"It’s pretty exciting,” said Lucy Spence, owner of Convenient Mart in Steubenville. “It seems as though the wings are the food of choice for the Super Bowl."

Spence said Super Bowl Sunday has been one of the busiest days she’s seen, but she’s happy to see it after perfecting their wing recipe

"We’ve worked really hard over the past three years to perfect our wings,” Spence said. “Garlic parmesan, barbecue, buffalo, General Tso’s and the siracha.”

Convenient Mart wasn’t the only business seeing a boom in wing sales Sunday.

Big Shot Bob’s in Weirton opened Oct. 18. Sunday, the store was flooded with more orders than ever before.

"We’re pushing about 600 an hour right now,” said Big Shot Bob’s General Manager Eugene Abbott.

Spence predicted Convenient Mart would sell close to 3,00 wings by the end of the day.

"We’re looking at 240 a case, 16 cases, so that’s quite a few cases,” Abbott said.

Just from those two stores, 6,840 wings flew out the door.

"We’re sold out," Abbott said.

The wings were a win, and some residents around the area were holding their own hopes for a Bowl win.

"I got a lot of money riding on this,” said Brilliant resident Michael McCain.

Some stakes were high, but others were barely able to choose a side.

"I wish I was watching the Steelers right now, but I’m going to go for the Eagles and root for the underdog,” said Chelsea Grubick. “I always root for the underdog.”
