Two people accused of luring a man to a Wheeling motel then kidnapping, assaulting and robbing him are under review by a grand jury.

Maurice Mosby’s hearing was continued Monday and Tuesday Maranda Burch waived her right to a preliminary hearing. They were recently extradited to West Virginia from Ohio after the two were picked up in the car they allegedly stole from the Knights Inn.

Maranda Burch didn't go before a judge on Tuesday, waiving her preliminary hearing, but she is expected to face more charges soon.

She is accused of brining a man to the Knights Inn in downtown Wheeling, then, with Mosby, holding him captive, assaulting him and stealing his wallet, cell phone and car.

Police say the two were arrested in the victim’s car after absconding to Wyandot County, Ohio.

According to Wheeling police reports, the incident happened during the early morning hours of August 15. The victim says he went to get some food with a woman at the motel, and when he returned Mosby allegedly hit him over the head several times and tied him up.

The next day is when the Ohio State Highway Patrol notified Wheeling police that Mosby and Maranda Burch were arrested after a routine traffic stop in Carey, Ohio.

Mosby faces first degree robbery, kidnapping and strangulation. Police also say he had outstanding warrants out of Hancock County and Toledo, Ohio.

Burch is facing charges of conspiracy and kidnapping and she also had outstanding warrants in Belmont County.

Burch and Mosby are in the Northern Regional Jail.
