JAN. 31

Ohio County Sheriff Tom Howard has released more information after a man was found dead Jan. 21 near Route 2 in Ohio County.

The sheriff says the man died from hypothermia. He was found on the Heritage Trail by a jogger.

Sheriff Howard says the man is 44-years-old, but he is waiting to reach the man’s family before releasing his name.

Police say he is not from the area.

"It is not a local person,” Howard said. “He was traveling into town, going through Wheeling, and was dropped off here and didn't get to continue on, and he basically wandering around. But it is not a local person. So the families locally with a missing person need to understand, it is not their family member.”

The body was uncovered when the snow melted in Wheeling.
