Brooke County Schools collecting donations for flood relief
BROOKE COUNTY, W.Va. —
Brooke County Schools are hosting a flood relief donation drive at the high school.
The Bruins’ cheerleaders are one of the volunteer groups collecting donations.
"We're collecting housing supplies, baby supplies, school supplies -- all for the flood victims," senior cheerleader Nikayla Croce said.
The donation drive goes on until 8 p.m. Organizers are asking for basic household and cleaning necessities.
Also, the Brooke County Board of Education has scheduled a vote to potentially reduce the amount of elementary schools in the district.
A vote is scheduled next week whether to consolidate seven elementary schools into four. It's not clear which elementary buildings would be closed if the vote passes. Superintendent Toni Paesano Shute was unavailable for comment. The vote is scheduled for Monday night.
