Brooke County plowing issues
BROOKE COUNTY, W. Va. —
The West Virginia Department of Transportation is responding to viewer’s complaints that crews were not keeping roads clear in Brooke County after the latest snow storms.
Viewers were airing concerns on social media that salt trucks and plows were running out of salt. The district engineer says rumors about supply and performance are not true.
"Progress is excellent. To put things in perspective we had severe weather starting with two inches of rain followed by freezing rain and then almost up to 12 inches of snow between the two storms," said Gus Suwaid, District 6 Engineer.
"Supply of salt has been challenging, but we never ran out," Suwaid said.
Suwaid says the department shares salt and chemical supplies between districts and the agency is in the process of restocking to prepare for the next storm.
