Bond set for suspect in Walmart parking lot robbery case

Harley Rawson is charged with robbery in the case. Prosecuting Attorney Stephen Lamatrice says they believe Rawson is the man caught on security footage tackling the elderly man, then stealing his wallet on Tuesday night.

A man who is accused of the robbery of an elderly man in the parking lot of the Steubenville Walmart made an appearance in Steubenville Municipal Court on Thursday.

Harley Rawson is charged with robbery. Prosecuting Attorney Stephen Lamatrice says they believe Rawson is the man caught on security footage tackling the elderly man, then stealing his wallet on Tuesday night.

Lamatrice says Rawson was convicted of robbery in 2012, and asked for a bond no less than $300,000.

"Certainly a public safety risk. I mean, he just got out of jail,” Lamatrice said. “He did 5 years, just got out of jail, and here we are back again attacking some elderly man, so I'd ask for a very high bond."

Judge John Mascio set Rawson's bond at $500,000.

Three other suspects -- Brittany Petrella, Joshua Hill and Christopher Clark -- have obstruction and trespassing charges pending, but police believe they were not directly involved in the robbery.
