Bellaire robbery suspect arrested
BELMONT COUNTY, Ohio —
On Saturday, Bellaire Police identified a man suspected of an armed robbery at the Rich Oil Gas Station in Bellaire that happened Wednesday.
The suspect, 28-year-old Michael Huff, from Washington, PA, was en route to Wheeling to board a bus to Georgia.
Officers were already on the way to check the residence where he was staying on the 4300 block of Walnut Alley when Wheeling police advised they had the suspect detained at the bus station. Bellaire officers went to Wheeling, where Huff was held until a fugitive warrant was issued. He was transported to West Virginia Northern Regional Jail.
Bellaire officers searched the residence and recovered clothing matching that of the robber in the surveillance photos.
Chief Mike Kovalyk expressed his sincere appreciation to the officers of Wheeling Police Department with their quick action in apprehending Huff. Kovalyk added that the cooperation between the Ohio County and Belmont County Prosecutors' Offices was vital in maintaining custody of the suspect.
