Bellaire organization holds toy giveaway
BELMONT COUNTY, Ohio —
Capes and Tiaras in Bellaire held their toy giveaway for the community Tuesday night.
They gave away toys for more than 400 children in need. The giveaway was open to low-income families that registered ahead of time.
Families could get one new item and three that are gently-used. Everything was donated by the community and collected throughout the year.
The event, organized by Jim Turik, provides a way for families to provide for their kids this holiday season.
"I think it's great,” said volunteer Aaron Snider. “I love to see people's reaction and just being able to help people that might be struggling through Christmas. It's such a beautiful time to not only receive gifts, but to be able to give and help give others joy."
Organizers say that this year's turnout was the biggest yet. They added they plan to continue the event next year.
