The fish were biting in Toronto Saturday as the city held its Bass Festival.

Anglers hit the Ohio River to compete in the Charlie Vantilburg Ohio River Bass Tournament. There were also plenty of raffle items donated by community members.

Proceeds benefit the Helping Hands food pantry, the Toronto Coalition for Revitalization and the Ohio Bass Federation.

"I think it went well, the river was hot and it was a lot of current, but there was good fish brought in and for this late in the season, summertime, I think it went real well," said organizer Lance Wargo.

Jay Wiley and Chris Clutter of Toronto took first place. John Shade of Mansfield came in second and also won the big bass contest.

After the tournament, all of the fish are returned to the river alive.
