After several months, temporary post office opens in Cadiz

The wait for a full-service post office in Cadiz is over.

The temporary post office site along Peppard Avenue opened its doors Monday. The short-term post office will hold regular weekday hours from 8:30 to 5 every day, with Saturday hours to be determined.

After the village saw the return of a grocery store last week, the post office opening was another sign things were returning to normal for residents.

"It's going to be a good thing for everyone in town because it was such a hassle to go out of town to pick up certified mail,” said Cadiz resident Britany Mansfield.

"I was excited to hear we have a post office. I ran out of stamps this week and I was trying to put off whether I go to Hopedale to buy them or whether the one in Cadiz would open up in time. I'm glad to hear it open because I need my stamps,” said Pastor Paul Giffin of the Cadiz First Church of Christ. β€œAnd I love having the supermarket back here in town. We've missed both of those things a lot here in Cadiz."

The former post office site in Cadiz has been closed since October due to concerns of the building's foundation. There's no word yet on plans for a permanent replacement.
