The Ohio State Highway Patrol is sending a warning to drivers: Don’t press your luck this St. Patrick's Day.

St. Patrick's Day falls on a Friday this year, and troopers are working with local law enforcement to remove impaired drivers.

Statewide, two people died and another 32 were injured because of alcohol-related crashes on March 17 last year. They're comparatively low statistics for a typically dangerous night.

"We had additional resources last year with troopers from other posts working the area, and with that saturation, I think that contributed to the low number of crashes," said Sgt. Joe Weaver of the St. Clairsville Post.

They’ll do the same this year.

"We're bringing troopers in from Cambridge and Steubenville to come saturate the area again, and hopefully it works again this year, but we will be working State Route 7, I-470, 70 areas of Belmont County," Weaver said.

Drivers are encouraged to dial #677 to report drug activity or impaired drivers.
