JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ohio -- Known all around as the Barn Artist, Beallsville’s Scott Hagan has painted at least one barn in all 88 counties in Ohio.
This week, having branched out, he’s working on logos on the side of Crossroads Christian Church in Wintersville.
It's a passion that started at home for Hagan.
"I just painted something fun on my dad’s barn back in 1997, and I’ve been doing this work ever since,” he said.
Eighteen years later, Hagan’s career is as big as the canvas he creates with.
“Every year it has grown and I get to venture out more and more every year,” he said.
Hagan didn't even go to school for art, but opportunities at Beallsville High School led him to where he is.
Mark Prichard is an elder at Crossroads Christian and has watched the project from the beginning (he started Monday night).
“When he sets up his job, he comes at night and has a projector that projects the logo to the size it will be and he uses a grease marker to outline so it was really cool,” Prichard said.
In just a matter of days, a new work of art will be complete, and then it's on to the next big project beyond the Ohio Valley.
“I’ve been busy,” Hagan said. “(There’s) a lot of work going on this year. June is going to be crazy. I’ve got an east coast trip where I get to go to parts of Syracuse, and I actually get to go to Cape Cod.”
