Team Sledd makes $15 million expansion

Updated: Tuesday, June 17 2014, 05:42 PM EDT

WHEELING, W.Va.--

The grand opening of a new state-of-the-art distribution center took place on Tuesday morning in Wheeling.

Team Sledd cut the ribbon at the new facility, in Elm Grove, among state and city leaders.

The center took 2 1/2 years to complete and the space includes an expanded warehouse, office space and learning center.

Sledd Co. is a $450 million business and serves six states from its Wheeling location.

Rob Sincavich, president of Sledd Co., said expansion is a testament to the hard work and dedication of their employees.

“We thank our many partners on this project including the City of Wheeling, West Virginia Economic Authority, Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin and all of our great employees.”

Sincavich said Sledd Co. plans to double in size in the next few years.

Wheeling Mayor Andy McKenzie said he is glad Sledd Co. decided to expand here.

“They could have gone anywhere and they stayed here and made an investment here – a great day for the city,” said McKenzie.

Tomblin said it’s just proof businesses want to come to West Virginia. He noted Piertro Fiorenti opening a manufacturing facility just a few weeks ago in Fulton – with plans for a $9 million plant in Weirton soon.

“These are great investments and it shows West Virginia is a good place to start a business and grow a business,” said Tomblin.

Team Sledd has been around for almost 80 years.
