Police say a property owner and his girlfriend helped to track down an alleged copper thief.

Xavier Chase Coyle was arraigned Sunday on a felony charge of grand larceny in Ohio County Magistrate Court.

Coyle is accused of stealing more than $4,500 work of copper from an Ohio County property.

The owner of the property along Quincy Lane noticed copper missing from his property about a week ago, and he and his girlfriend took it upon themselves to stake out the property to find the person responsible.

Coyle was found allegedly taking copper from the property around 4 p.m. on Sunday.

According to the criminal complaint, the property owners girlfriend blocked Coyle's vehicle in and called 911.

Monday morning, Magistrate Joe Roxby set Coyle's bond at $10,000.

According to court records, in 2010, Coyle was convicted of nighttime burglary in Ohio County Circuit Court and sentenced to 1-3 years.
