Multiple drug arrests in Steubenville

The Steubenville Police Department kept busy this weekend after multiple drug arrests.

Saturday night, a Steubenville Police Officer stopped a vehicle on the 1500 block of Maryland Avenue after discovering a driver with a suspended license.

After searching the vehicle, police located a cup holder with numerous orange caps for hypodermic needles in the center console of the vehicle.

Joseph Elias was taken to the Jefferson County Jail where he was held on a $500 bond.

Elias was charged with possession of drug abuse instruments and cited for driving under suspension.

And then around 3 a.m. Saturday morning, Steubenville Police responded to the Best Western on University Blvd. in regards to possible illegal activity.

The hotel manager and supervisor told police they were having problems with someone staying in one of the hotel rooms, and that there were needles, heroin, crack pipes and other possible illegal drugs.

After investigating, Shadea Stevens was arrested for a bench warrant and possession of marijuana.

Allison George was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of heroin.

Zachary Tost was charged with persistent disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, assault on a police officer, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
