GM CEO addresses ignition issue

Updated: Thursday, June 5 2014, 12:34 PM EDT

General Motors’ top executive addressed details of an investigative report about the automaker’s response to faulty ignition switches
Mary Barra called the report “troubling” as she spoke to more than 1,000 employees Thursday morning.
In essence, the report found that GM engineers misdiagnosed the ignition switch problem, and that employees did not disclose the information.
"As I lead through this crisis I want everyone to know I am guided by two clear principals,” Barra said. “First, we will do the right thing for those who were harmed. And second, we will accept responsibility for our mistakes and commit do doing everything within our power to make sure this never happens again." "
Barra said the company takes full responsibility for its mistakes and will compensate those who were harmed.
