WHEELING, W.Va. -- On Tuesday, the Youth Services System Board of Directors announced that James G. and Linda Bordas are the 2014 Good Samaritans. They will be honored at the agency's Good Samaritan Tribute Dinner on Aug. 7 at Wheeling Park's White Palace.
"Jim and Linda Bordas have been caring and generous neighbors in our community. They are examples of the parable of the Good Samaritan. They have been important in the lives of many children in the community. Linda Bordas has had a long association with YSS, and with other youth-serving organizations. Their law firm has stood up for families facing difficult circumstances. They support a wide range of community events and causes," said John Moses, YSS executive director.
The Good Samaritan honor began in 2008, with Sister Constance Dodd of the 18th Street Neighborhood Center being the first honoree. She was followed by Ron Mulholland (2009), the late Kathleen Hogan Schenk (2010),  Dr. Bernard Grubler, Ann Thomas, and the late Dr. Lee Jones (2011), Ron Klug (2012), and G. Randolph "Randy" Worls (2013).
Youth Services System's Board of Directors selects the Good Samaritans and holds the Good Samaritan Dinner to honor those selected.
"One of our great pleasures as a Board is to recognize what individuals accomplish through their work and passion," adds Susan Hogan, YSS Board secretary.  "Good Samaritans do this because it is the right thing to do, not to seek attention.  That is true for Jim and Linda."
The Good Samaritan Dinner will take place at 5:30 p.m. at the White Palace Ballroom at Wheeling Park on Thursday, Aug. 7.
