OHIO COUNTY, W.Va. - Religious leaders and the public were invited to a special seminar at Wheeling Hospital on Wednesday.
The event dealt with the special support needed by patients and their loved ones in end-of-life situations, offering education designed to help pastoral caregivers to better address the spiritual and emotional needs of people facing such challenging situations.
"It came to our attention that they might benefit from some education about medically what's going on from these critically ill patients, what the patients' families experience while they are here, and what the staff deals with wrestling with difficult conversations, what's in the best interest of the patient," Dr. Valerie Satkoske, Wheeling Hospital, director of ethics said.
The event was hosted by Wheeling Hospital and the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston and was free to the public.
