MARSHALL COUNTY, W.Va—

Fire crews remain on the scene of an active fire that broke out at the Dominion natrium plant in Marshall County just after 1 a.m.

Crews are continuing to contain the blaze, but it could be several more hours before the fire burns itself out.

Marshall County Emergency Management Director Tom Hart said that there are no injuries and all plant employees are accounted for.

Kent area residents were evacuated from their homes for a short time, but have been permitted to return.

Rt. 2 is closed until further notice.  Officials suggest drivers use Rt. 7.

Initial reports indicate there may have been an explosion before the fire broke out, but officials cannot confirm that at this time.
