TORONTO, Ohio – Toronto police are actively investigating an incident that happened in the 1500 block of Madison Avenue Tuesday night.
Two people have been arrested and are behind bars after police say shots were fired from inside a Toronto home around 10:15 p.m.
A neighboring family is still very worked up over the incident.
“I was lying on my couch and my 8-year-old was in the kitchen on the computer,” neighbor Angela Straight explained. “Around 10:15 p.m. last night, we heard a very loud boom. I immediately knew it was a gun shot, and it took my son we came outside and ran to the neighbor's house across the street."
Straight was understandably frightened. Shattered glass littered the back door steps of the home.
Police said that it may have been an accident, but they also noted that the suspect appeared to be very intoxicated.
Charges are pending against two people. And we know another small child was inside the home.
“I'm lucky enough to be here doing this interview,” Straight said. “I'm lucky I'm not making funeral arrangements for myself or my 8 year old child at this point."
Police are not releasing the names of the two people who were taken into custody. As soon as that information is released we will pass it along to you.
Child Protection Services was called in to remove the child from residence.
