Updated: Thursday, June 5 2014, 05:33 PM EDT

City and state leaders welcomed an international manufacturer to the U.S. on Thursday in Wheeling.

Pietro Fiorentini officially opened its facility in Wheeling  onThursday. The plant is the first of its kind in the country.

The company now plans to build a $9 million plant in Weirton in the next two years on Three Springs Business Park.

Company representatives said the booming oil and gas business was one of the reasons they chose West Virginia because the plant makes gas pressure regulators.

Leaders say the company will bring hundreds of jobs and tax revenue to the mountain state.

The plant in Weirton is expected to be completed in the next two years.

Right now, a few dozen workers are manufacturing in Wheeling until the Weirton facility opens.
