Gas prices to rise as 4th nears

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ohio -- Gas prices are comparatively low... for now.
But you might feel some pain at the pump during the 4th of July holiday weekend.
Triple-A officials have announced that gas prices will slowly creep up as travelers hit the pavement for the holiday weekend.
There are some tips you can follow to preserve gas and, ultimately, money:
"A couple of main things to make sure you have a clean air filter, proper tire pressure, check your tire balance, wheel alignment and we also offer nitrogen instead of air in your tires to save gas mileage," said Wally Petrosky  of Snyder Tire.
Technicians at Snyder Tire also say it is best to get your car checked out way before the holiday weekend approaches.
"We always get busy around the holidays, so the sooner the better you can take care of it the safer you can be on the roads," Petrosky said.
Other tips on saving gas include keeping your windows closed when driving above 55 mph. Open windows reduce gas mileage by as much as 10 percent.
