City council controversy over

Updated: Tuesday, June 10 2014, 06:19 AM EDT

BENWOOD, W.V.-- A mistake on the May ballot in Benwood has been corrected.
Curtis Mele, who was left off the ballot by mistake for his district, doesn’t have to be reelected. That decision came Monday night during a special meeting.
“I was very happy with the outcome today and I’m looking forward to serving the citizens of Benwood in the first ward for the next four years,” Mele said.
“It was a clerical mistake or was an honest mistake. Being that he ran unopposed, council did the right thing by declaring him the council person for the first ward for the next four years” Benwood’s Mayor Edward Kuka told us Monday night.
Mele didn’t have an opponent, so he can now get back to work for his ward.
