One pleads guilty in high-speed chase

Updated: Wednesday, July 30 2014, 06:35 PM EDT
HANCOCK COUNTY, W.Va. -- What began as a high-speed police chase 5 months ago ended in a Hancock County courtroom Tuesday with a guilty plea from one of two men who led Brooke County Sherriff Chuck Jackson on that pursuit.
Jackson initially tried to stop Mitchell Eackle, 25, and Billy Cline, who were both speeding in separate vehicles in Follansbee and into Steubenville. Police say one car was stolen, while the other was being used to carry scrap metal that was lifted from Zatta's Auto Sales & Salvage in Wellsburg.
Cline, 33, is already serving time for the incident, but went before the judge to enter a plea to his charges.
"It is ordered that the defendant, Billy J. Cline, is guilty of the felony offenses of grand larceny and conspiracy," Hancock County Circuit Court Judge Ronald Wilson said.
Cline was sentenced to serve 1-10 years. Eackle appeared in court where the judge set his trial date in September.
