Alumni tour closing schools

Updated: Monday, April 7 2014, 07:43 AM EDT

WEIRTON, W.Va - Hancock County Schools gave the community the opportunity to go down memory lane and tour the three elementary schools before they are razed later this year.

Alumni of the schools came for one last memory and had the chance to look for photos of classes before them as they remembered friends and teachers.

"When you think about it, Weirton Heights is 89 years old,” Superintendent Sue Smith said. “Theres been an awful lot of students that have come through these halls and a lot of great memories and a great educational foundation for our students."

The schools will be closing at the end of this school year and students begin school at the new Weirton Heights Elementary in August.
