Cambridge police still seeking gunman who robbed store

Updated: Tuesday, January 21 2014, 11:05 AM EST

Cambridge police are continuing to search for a gunman who robbed a business over the weekend.

The robbery happened at the Marathon Convenience Store on East Wheeling Avenue just before midnight Sunday.

Police said the robber brandished a black handgun to a female clerk and demanded money. With the cash in his hand, he ordered the woman to get on the floor and told her to remain there until he left the store.

The robber is described as a short, thin white man who wore glasses. He was wearing a ski mask during the robbery, but the clerk said she could see grayish “scruff” on parts of his face not covered by the mask.

The incident was the second armed robbery reported in Cambridge within 25 hours.
