Wheeling police investigating two shootings
WHEELING, W.Va. —
Two early morning shootings are under investigation by the Wheeling Police Department.
The first happened around 2:27 a.m. in the area of the American Legion on 15th Street. When officers arrived on scene, a gold-colored car was traveling at a high rate of speed west on 15th Street.
Police later discovered the driver of the car had been shot in the foot and was driving himself to Ohio Valley Medical Center for treatment. Police found shell casings as the scene and are continuing to gather evidence.
The second shooting happened around 5:43 a.m. Residents on Maryland Street on Wheeling Island reported hearing gunshots. Upon arrival, officers and detectives saw several bullets hit a parked car and may have grazed a house. There were no injuries.
Police say it's possible the two shootings are connected, but currently there are no suspects.
