Davis Steps Down As Bellaire Head Football Coach

Updated: Wednesday, January 8 2014, 11:54 PM EST

Jose Davis has resigned as head football coach at his alma mater, Bellare High School.

Davis said it was "time to move on" after five seasons in charge of the Big Reds program.

He guided Bellaire to back-to-back playoff appearances in 2012 and 2013. Davis' record in five seasons was 27-25.

The former Big Reds star quarterback still plans to represent his alma mater one more time as a head coach. He'll be leading the Ohio all-stars in this summer's Rudy Mumley OVAC All-Star Charity Classic.  He also played in the game following his senior year of high school.

Davis and his staff earned the opportunity to coach that game after winning the OVAC Class 3A title this past season.
