Mike McKenzie is returning to the local football sidelines this fall. He has accepted the head coaching job at Beaver Local.

McKenzie last served as a head coach in 2012, the final of his seven seasons at Edison. Following that tenure at Edison, McKenzie spent three years as offensive coordinator at Weir High, where he currently is an assistant principal.

He took a year off from coaching in 2016.

Besides seven years at Edison, McKenzie also has head coaching experience at Indian Valley and Swanton High Schools.

McKenzie takes over for Jeremy McElroy, who served five seasons as Beaver Local head coach.

Beaver Local is a member of the OVAC and Buckeye 8 Athletic League, which means McKenzie will face some familiar opponents, including Indian Creek, Edison, and Buckeye Local in league play.
