Barnesville's Matt Johnson announced this past week that he is stepping down as the Shamrocks' football coach.

Johnson spent the past five years serving as head coach at his alma mater. This past season he led the Rocks to an OVAC 3A title, posting an overall 9-2 record including a win in the Ohio postseason at Chesapeake.

Johnson tells NEWS9 he's not ruling out a return to coaching in the future.

Barnesville will be the sixth area school to have a new head football coach in 2017.
