Fall sports at Harrison Central won't begin play for another 5 and-a-half months, but there was plenty of activity at the Huskies football stadium on Wednesday morning, as heavy machinery began moving earth around to make way for the new state-of-the-art, multi-purpose field turf field that will be home to not only the football team but a number of the Huskies athletic programs.
"In 2007, they came in and told us they were going to condemn it if we didn't fix our stadium up, the stands were so bad, so to go from that to walking out on the field next year at one of the nicest facilities in the valley, I can't tell you how that means to me,” Harrison Central football coach Justin Kropka said. “I know how much it means to kids and alumni. There were so many people that went into making this happen. I'm just so happy for all of them."
The new stadium field turf installation is expected to be completed in June.
