Buckeye Local freshman wrestler Travis Light is expected to make a full recovery after being hospitalized following an injury suffered at the Buckeye Local Panther Classic on Saturday.
His father, Jimmy Light, said swelling on the spinal cord originally caused paralysis, but Travis has feeling in all parts of his body and was walking with a physical therapist Monday.
Travis remains in Pittsburgh Children’s Hospital, but the hope is he'll be released in the next couple of days.
Jimmy Light says although his son is expected to make a full recovery, there's still a lot of work ahead to rehabilitate from the injury. He was sure to thank everyone for their support during this time, including the wrestling community. They've received calls from as far away as Arkansas.
If anyone would like to send cards of support, they can send them, in care of Travis, to Buckeye Local High School.
