2007 Barnesville High School alum Blake Allen is the new head football coach at his alma mater. His hiring was made official at Thursday night's Barnesville Board of Education meeting.
Allen spent the past two years as Barnesville's offensive coordinator. He oversaw an offense that more than doubled its scoring output from when he took over. Barnesville went from 16 points per game in 2014 to scoring 39 points per game last season in the Shamrocks 9-2 season which included a postseason win at Chesapeake and an OVAC 3A championship. He was honored as the 2016 offensive assistant coach of the year at the WTOV9 High School Football Awards Show in December.
Allen played in college at Muskingum University, serving as one of the team captains during his senior season of 2011.
He takes over for Matt Johnson, who stepped down after leading the Barnesville program for the past five seasons.
