Parcel Players Auditions at Towngate Theater
Towngate Theatre, 2118 Market Street Wheeling WV 26003; 7 pm; Parcel Players, Oglebay Institute’s summer theater program for students ages 13 through college, will present two plays again this summer. Students interested in participating can attend open call/auditions at 7 p.m. May 30 & 31 at Towngate Theatre. Those seeking roles can attend either of these dates. Parents are welcome to attend. Begun more than 35 years ago, this annual summer theater program offers young people interested in theater a chance to act, direct, design sets, work with costumes, lighting and more. 2017 Parcel Players productions include: “Treasure Island,” by Ken Ludwig. Based on the masterful adventure novel by Robert Louis Stevenson, “Treasure Island” is a stunning yarn of piracy on the tropical seas. It calls for a cast of up to 22 males and/or females. Daniel Loh directs, and the show is in production July 12-15. “Godspell,” the immensely popular rock opera by Stephen Schwartz and John-Michael Tebelak calls for a cast of 5 males and 5 females. Tim Thompson directs. Walt Warren is music director and Cheryl Pompeo is choreographer. “Godspell” is in production August 2-5. Nature Quest at Schrader Center
Schrader Environmental Education Center, Oglebay Resort, Wheeling, WV; Families can enjoy a self-guided nature quest (tour) along the habitat discovery trial outside the Schrader Center in Oglebay Park between 10am-4pm Tuesday through Sunday, June-August. Being at the Schrader Center where you will receive a packet, guiding you to special stations and items along the trail. Complete your journey to claim a small token for your achievement. All ages welcome. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Please wear appropriate shoes. No flip-flops or strollers. $5 per family. Free to OI members or those with activity wristbands.

Paint your own Pottery at the Scrader Center
Schrader Environmental Education Center, Oglebay Resort, Wheeling, WV; Summer pottery painting at the Schrader Center in Oglebay is a fun craft for families and children of all ages. Choose from several animal shapes and ceramic pieces to paint or glaze. $5-$20 depending on piece chosen. Pieces must be left overnight to be fired and can be picked up the following day. Available 10am -3:30pm Wednesday through Saturday and noon – 3:30pm Sunday June 7-August 20.
